SYCAMORE, IL, January 27, 2010 – To help jump-start the careers of two promising young electricians, IDEAL has awarded Pete Walker and Chris Benson of IBEW Local 364 in Rockford, Illinois, with professional-grade tool kits for finishing at the top of their apprenticeship classes held at the IBEW's Northern Illinois Electrical Apprenticeship & Training Center.

"We are grateful to IDEAL for helping put the spotlight on these outstanding young men," said Todd Kindred, Training Director for the Northern Illinois Electrical JATC. "They're two of our best educated, most skilled apprentices who have bright futures as electricians and as IBEW members."

Both Walker and Benson received an essential collection of IDEAL tools housed in a rugged, top-grain leather Tuff-Tote® carrier. Featured tools include the Reflex T-Stripper; New England, long nose, and tongue & groove pliers; a screwdriver set; a torpedo level; a hawkbill knife; a 25ft measuring tape; and a pocket-sized fuse puller.

Over the past several decades, IDEAL has lent its support to IBEW-NECA JATC programs through a variety of means, including providing technical staff to instruct classrooms, as well as by donating thousands of dollars in data communications instruments, hand tools and testers for classroom use.

Signaltek Donation

IDEAL also recently donated a new Signaltek™ Cable Performance Tester to Lincoln Tech College in Melrose Park, Illinois. The Signaltek will be used to help students learn the skills necessary to keep cabling, audio/video circuits, computer networks, fiber optics or telecommunications and satellite systems up and running inside the school's "Smart House," a life-size training structure that replicates a modern home.
